ASSIGNMENT QUESTIONS Question 1 According to utilitarian perspective of health and wellness, an individual should take personal responsibility to enhance his/her quality of life (Resnik, 2014). We have to learn to accept responsibilities for our lives by respecting our true nature as a human being, which is taking charge of our own destiny. As an individual is responsible for his/her quality of life, there are three attributes which impact the individuals responsibilities for attaining and maintaining health and awareness. They are as follows: Personal Responsibility for Action All individuals have played a role in causing their own health and quality of life. For instance, an avid smoker might be held largely responsible for developing lung cancer. In cases where the individual has developed a disease, it is due to the reason that the individual himself/herself played a role in causing that disease as he/she is responsible for maintaining optimum health. Hence individuals need to differentiate the two risk factors that have an impact over their overall health status. These factors are as follows (Refer to table 1.1): Modifiable Risk Factors Non-modifiable Risk Factors Defined as factors that are within the control of an individual. He/she can take action to reduce the risks of contracting/developing diseases, for instance, choosing to refrain from smoking in order to reduce/prevent the risks of lung cancer. Defined as factors that are not within the control of an individual. For example, increased vulnerability to certain diseases such as heart disease, due to significant hereditary/genetic risk factors. Table 1.1 Modifiable Risk Factors vs. Non-modifiable Risk Factors After realizing modifiable and non-modifiable risk factors, individuals would be able to make firm decisions and take control of their lifestyles by deterring negative behaviours that will hinder them from achieving an optimum health condition. For instance, chances of developing Type II Diabetes may rely on factors like hereditary, environmental influences (fast food advertisements) or even life choices (e.g. smoking, not exercising, etc.). Concern for Others Health and wellness choices of an individual are largely impacted by societal elements as well. Compared to hermits, extroverted individuals tend to have a better state/sense of wellness and are good role models for people who desire to participate in wellness enabling activities but are shy to show their interests. This is due to the fact that this group of people usually exposes themselves to a variety of social interactions, being able to adapt and improvise to alternating situations as they feel comfortable in connecting socially while still committed to their health goals. People-centred individuals display their respect and concern for other people around them by showing a caring attitude, usually through words and actions. Thus, they tend to be non-judgemental and more socially aware of variations in health issues among others around them as they do not impose their own values, but instead act in a socially responsible manner to blend in with like-minded individuals with similar wellness goals. For example, participating in voluntary work in all sorts of health organizations or plan health awareness campaigns with respected community members can raise health awareness among others and make positive, practical difference to other peoples lives. Health Awareness and Sound Decision-making Through the development of self-control, health awareness and decision making skills, individuals can then manage to sustain their wellness state over a period of time. These individuals are usually people who consciously make healthy life choices and choose to manage their time effectively for health-oriented activities that are within their means of attaining. Sound awareness of health related knowledge and personal limits play a vital role in sustaining a fitness program. Decision making processes are supported by informed healthy life choices based on facts, which help to sustain an individuals interest, determination and persistence in wellness activities over a longer period of time. For instance, individuals should seek professional help or advices in order to understand what is known, as well as what is not known, so they will be able to make informed decisions according to their own treatment/wellness preferences. In a nutshell, individuals should gather adequate and accurate health-related information either by reading articles/book/journals about health or through consultation with a health practitioner in order to make informed choices for a customized wellness program. Getting a proper medical check-up and sort out any other health issues would be the first step towards attaining and maintaining health and wellness. Question 2 The term wellness can refer to the full integration of states of physical, mental and spiritual well-being. Though many people associate their health/wellness to their physical health, it can also be used to describe seven other dimensions of health, namely, physical, mental, spiritual, occupational, environmental, financial, emotional and social (Community, 2016). These different dimensions of health act and interact together to help contribute to our own quality of life. Physical health involves any of the aspects that are necessary to keep an individuals body in top condition (Dimensions of Health, 2016). It also refers to learning about different types of diseases and their symptoms, participating in beneficial physical activities/exercises as well as eating healthily. In order to ach...

THE N.W.A free essay sample
N. W. A (an abbreviation of Niggaz Wit Attitudes)[1][2][3] was an American hip hop group from Compton, California, widely considered one of the seminal acts of the gangsta rap and west coast hip hop sub-genres, sometimes credited as the most important group in the history of rap music. [4] Active from 1986 to 1991, the rap group endured controversy due to the explicit lyrics that many considered to be disrespectful to women, and glorifying drugs and crime. The group was subsequently banned from many mainstream American radio stations. In spite of this, the group has sold over 10 million units in the United States alone. The original lineup consisted of Arabian Prince, DJ Yella, Dr. Dre, Eazy-E, and Ice Cube. MC Ren joined in 1988, with Arabian Prince leaving the group later that same year. Ice Cube left in December of 1989 over royalty disputes. Several members would later become platinum-selling solo artists in the 1990s. Their debut album Straight Outta Compton marked the beginning of the new gangsta rap era as the production and social commentary in their lyrics were revolutionary within the genre. A number 83 on their list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time. [5] In October 2012, N. W. A were nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for the first time. [6] In October 2013 the group was nominated for a second time. [7] Formation and Panic Zone (1987ââ¬â1988)[edit] The group was assembled by Compton-based Eazy-E, who co-founded Ruthless Records with Jerry Heller. Initially, N. W. A consisted of Eazy-E and Dr. Dre, who in turn brought DJ Yella on board. [8] Dre and Yella were both formerly members of the World Class Wreckin Cru, as DJs and producers. Together with fellow producer Arabian Prince, Ice Cube was added to the roster after he had started out as a rapper for the group C. I. A. [9] Ruthless released the single Panic Zone in 1987 with Macola Records, which was later included on the compilation album N. W. A. and the Posse. N. W. A was still in its developing stages, and is only credited on three of the eleven tracks, notably the uncharacteristic record Panic Zone, 8-Ball, Dopeman, which marked the first collaboration of Arabian Prince, DJ Yella, Dr. Dre, and Ice Cube. Mexican rapper Krazy-Dee co-wrote Panic Zone, which was originally called Hispanic Zone, but the title was later changed when Dr. Dre advised Krazy-Dee that the word hispanic would hinder sales. [10] Also included was Eazy-Es solo track Boyz-n-the-Hood. [11] In 1988, rapper MC Ren joined the group. [citation needed] Straight Outta Compton (1988ââ¬â1989)[edit] N. W. A released their debut studio album, Straight Outta Compton, in 1988. With its famous opening salvo of three tracks, the group reflected the rising anger of the urban youth. The opening song Straight Outta Compton introduced the group, Fuck tha Police protested police brutality and racial profiling, and Gangsta Gangsta painted the worldview of the inner-city youth. While the group was later credited with pioneering the burgeoning sub genre of gangsta rap, N. W. A referred to their music as reality rap. [12] Dr. Dre and DJ Yella, as HighPowered Productions, composed the beats for each song, with Dre making occasional rapping appearances. [13] Ice Cube and MC Ren wrote most of the groups lyrics, including Fuck tha Police, perhaps the groups most notorious song, which brought them into conflict with various law enforcement agencies. Under pressure from Focus on the Family,[14] Milt Ahlerich, an assistant director of the FBI, sent a letter to Ruthless and its distributing company Priority Records, advising the rappers that advocating violence and assault is wrong and we in the law enforcement community take exception to such action. This letter can still be seen at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio. [15] Policemen refused to provide security for the groups concerts, hurting their plans to tour. Nonetheless, the FBIs letter only served to draw more publicity to the group. Straight Outta Compton was also one of the first albums to adhere to the new Parental Advisory label scheme, then still in its early stages: the label at the time consisted of WARNING: Moderate impact coarse language and/or themes only. However, the taboo nature of N. W. As music was the most important factor of its mass appeal. Media coverage compensated for N. W. As lack of airplay and their album eventually went double platinum. [16] One month after Straight Outta Compton, Eazy-Es solo debut Eazy-Duz-It was released. The album was dominated by Eazys personaââ¬âMC Ren was the only guest rapperââ¬âbut behind the scenes it was a group effort. Music was handled by Dr. Dre and DJ Yella; the lyrics were largely written by MC Ren, with contributions from Ice Cube and The D. O. C. The album was another double platinum success for Ruthless[17] (in addition to girl group J. J. Fad in 1988 and singer Michelle in 1989). 1989 saw the re-issue of N. W. A and the Posse and Straight Outta Compton on CD, and the release of The D. O. C. s No One Can Do It Better. His album was essentially a collaboration with Dr. Dre and notably free of gangsta rap content, however including the N. W. A posse cut The Grand Finale. It would become another #1 album for the record label. 100 Miles And Runnin' and Niggaz4Life (1989ââ¬â1991)[edit] Ice Cube left in December 1989 over royalty disputes;[3] having written almost half of the lyrics on Straight Outta Compton himself, he felt he was not getting a fair share of the money and profits. [18] He wasted little time putting together his solo debut, 1990s AmeriKKKas Most Wanted, but he avoided mentioning his former label mates. N. W. As title track from their 1990 EP 100 Miles and Runnin', however, included a diss of Ice Cube: We started with five, but yo / One couldnt take itââ¬âSo now its four / Cuz the fifth couldnt make it. The video for the song depicted the remaining members of N. W. A together in a jail cell, while an Ice Cube look-alike is released. Also heard on the EP (which found its way on the Efil4zaggin CD re-issue) was Real Niggaz, a full-blown diss on Ice Cube where the remaining members accuse him of cowardice, and question his authenticity, longevity and originality: How the fuck you think a rapper lasts / With your ass sayin shit that was said in the past / Yo, be original, your shit is sloppy / Get off the dick, you motherfuckin carbon-copy, and We started out with too much cargo / So Im glad we got rid of Benedict Arnold, yo. The song 100 Miles and Runnin' was Dr. Dres final uptempo recording, which had been a common feature of late 1980s hip hop. After this, he focused on a midtempo, synthesizer based sound which would become known as G-funk, starting with Alwayz Into Somethin' from Efil4zaggin in 1991. The G-funk style dominated both the West and East Coast hip hop music scene for several years to come. N. W. A is referenced on Ice Cubes 1990 EP, Kill at Will, where he name-checks his former group (likely in a mocking manner) on the song Jackin For Beats. On I Gotta Say What Up!!! , Ice Cube gives shout-outs to his rap peers at the time, among them Public Enemy, the Geto Boys, and Sir Jinx. At the end of the track, in what appears to be an on-the-phone interview, Ice Cube is asked, Since you went solo, whatever happened to the rest of your crew? and the phone is abruptly hung up on the interviewer. The groups second full-length release, 1991s Efil4zaggin (Niggaz4Life spelled backwards), re-established the band in the face of Ice Cubes continued solo success. The album is considered by many Dr. Dres finest production work, and it heralded the beginning of the G-Funk era. It also showed a clear animosity towards their former member, and derogatory references to Ice Cube are found in several songs. The interlude A Message to B. A. echoes the beginning of his song Turn Off the Radio from AmeriKKKas Most Wanted: Ice Cube is first addressed by the name Benedict Arnold (after the infamous traitor of the American Revolution) but then named outright in a torrent of abuse from both the group and its fans: When we see yo ass, we gon cut yo hair off and fuck you with a broomstick. Think about it, punk muthafucka, spoken by MC Ren. The N. W. Aââ¬âIce Cube feud eventually escalated, both on record and in real life. AmeriKKKas Most Wanted had avoided direct attacks on N. W. A, but on Death Certificate, Ice Cubes second full-length release, he retaliated. He sampled and mocked the Message to B. A. skit before embarking on a full-blown tirade, the infamous No Vaseline. In a series of verses, Ice Cube verbally assaulted the group: You lookin like straight bozos / I saw it comin thats why I went solo / Kept on stompin / When yall Muthafuckas moved Straight outta Compton / You got jealous when I got my own company / But Im a man, and aint nobody humpin me. He also responded to members MC Ren, Dr. Dre, and Eazy-E individually to 100 Miles and Runnin', claiming I started off with too much cargo, dropped four niggaz / And now Im makin all the dough, using homophobic metaphors to describe their unequal business relationship with Jerry Heller, who became the target of harsh insults: Get rid of that devil real simple / Put a bullet to his temple / Cuz you cant be the Niggaz 4 Life crew / With a white Jew tellin you what to do. The song attracted controversy for its antisemitism (the beginning of such accusations against Ice Cube during his affiliation with the Nation of Islam), based on the bashing of Hellers religion;[19] The track was omitted from the UK release, and later pressings included a censored version of the song. In September 1990, members of hip hop act Above the Law clashed with Ice Cube and his posse Da Lench Mob during the annual New Music Seminar conference, forcing the latter to flee the premises of Times Squares Marriott Marquis, the venue of the event. [20] On January 27, 1991, Dr. Dre assaulted Dee Barnes, host of the hip hop show Pump It Up, after its coverage[21] of the N. W. A/Ice Cube beef. According to Rolling Stone reporter Alan Light: He picked her up and began slamming her face and the right side of her body repeatedly against a wall near the stairway as his bodyguard held off the crowd. After Dre tried to throw her down the stairs and failed, he began kicking her in the ribs and hands. She escaped and ran into the womens rest room. Dre followed her and grabbed her from behind by the hair and proceeded to punch her in the back of the head. [22] In response, Dre commented: People talk all this shit, but you know, if somebody fucks with me, Im gonna fuck with them. I just did it, you know. Aint nothing you can do now by talking about it. Besides, it aint no big thingââ¬âI just threw her through a door. [22]

Nurse-Patient Relationship Essay Example
Nurse Nurse-Patient Relationship Essay Nurse-Patient Relationship Essay Running head: Nurse-Patient Relationship 1 Nurse-Patient Relationship as a caring relationship Abra Nayo Central Connecticut State University Nursing 110-01: Introduction to Nursing Theories Dr. Linda Wagner November 28, 2011 Nurse-patient relationship as a caring relationship 2 The nurse-patient relationship is central to patient satisfaction and sets a tone of the care experience. Nurses are the health care professionals that spends the most time with the patients. By analyzing and understanding the factors that have the greatest impact on overall patient satisfaction, nurses can aim, and can focus their efforts, energies, and resources on improvements with the greatest potential to enhance the patients experience. There are many principles that nurses should use to build a healthy, careful balance of trust, and professional respect with the patients. However, there are also benefits as well as challenges to developing nurse-patient relationship. Ellen Meeropol(2011) in House Arrest, a captivating, and compelling fiction book, examines an unlikely relationship between two woman who , on the surface, could not be more different. Pippa is pregnant and under house arrest for the death of her daughter , and Emily is the nurse assigned to manage Pippaââ¬â¢s prenatal care. As the story unfolds Meeropol uses her twenty-year nursing expertise to describe the relationship of the two women. The question is what is that particular, purposeful relationship that nurse and patient sometimes partake? This paper will examine the nurse-patient relationship, showing the positive and the most challenging elements so that there can be a deeper understanding and admiration for patients and the impact on the nurse and the patients. The nurse-patient relationship is first based on caring relationship. It is a nurseââ¬â¢s job to care a patientââ¬â¢s medical needs. However, caring for their emotional well-being can also have just as beneficial an impact on patient care. The relationship between nurse and patient requires trust, as well as understanding . For a patient to disclose private or embarrassing details about their physical or mental condition, they need to trust that the nurse will treat them with dignity and respect. Furthermore, patients will only follow the advice of their nurse if they trust in his or her Nurse-patient relationship as a caring relationship professional opinion. This careful balance of trust and professional respect is one of the founding principle for a healthy and respectful nurse-patient relationship. Also, the nurse-patient relationship demonstrates an imbalance of power. Indeed, the nurse has a more extensive knowledge base in terms of care and treatment options. The patient might rely on their nurse and other health care professionals to advise them of the best treatment options for their needs. As a result , there can be unintended power struggle. The nurse , feeling he or she knows what is the best for the patient, can unwittingly influencing a patient to choose the best course of care is important for patient participation, nurses must learn to walk a fine line between influence and assuming control.

Find a multinational trading or manufacturing organisation of your Research Paper
Find a multinational trading or manufacturing organisation of your choice. Describe and evaluate the changing business environme - Research Paper Example Also explored in this paper is the impact of change on the organizational structure and general performance of the company. Performance was assessed through a comparative analysis of the companyââ¬â¢s strengths and that of the competitors. Financial reports were also used to establish the trends of performance as they relate to the various changes undertaken by the company. Introduction PepsiCo Inc., remains one of the leading food and beverage companies both in the United States and in different parts of the world. Over the years, the company has undergone structural and managerial changes aimed towards enhancing its market profile and general performance. Longitudinal inquiries into the companyââ¬â¢s potential show that the company has continued to post impressive financial results as a result of strategic changes in its internal systems and supply chain (Bachmeier 141). PepsiCoââ¬â¢s expansion into Asia, Europe, Africa, and other parts of the world demonstrates a determin ed agenda of breaking into new market segments beyond its original geographical niche. The same determination manifests itself through the mergers, acquisitions, and purchases that the company has undertaken in the course of its operation. ... A diversified range of products remains one of the strongest selling points by which PepsiCo manages to maintain an impressive lead on the global market. It might be argued that some of the changes that relate to the companyââ¬â¢s change of profile are necessarily linked to market forces, which tend to favor multinationals and bid corporations. On this note, it remains evident that the changes in the processes and structures of the company had some significant impacts in terms of growth and profitability. Sustained competition with other food and beverage companies on the market has occasioned a shift in production methods with the aim of retaining its hold on the market share. The reliance on both carbonated and un-carbonated drinks has allowed the company to attend to the diverse tastes of the market, which also translates into increased revenue flow. One of the competitive advantages that PepsiCo enjoys over its main rival is the diverse product range. Essentially, the performa nce of PepsiCo could be assessed from the perspective of the various factors that attend to the dynamics of global competition. Consistently, PepsiCo has engaged in strategic corporate social responsibility programs that are aimed at promoting healthy nutrition in the wider society. This strategy weighs into public concerns of proper nutrition in the wake of diet-related lifestyle diseases. The Business Environment PepsiCo operates in a highly competitive business environment particularly because it relates to the health and nutrition of populations. The food and beverage business environment attracts new players every year due to the high returns on capital for the successful ventures. The competitive nature of the environment

How people with such different background can make friends with each Essay - 1
How people with such different background can make friends with each other - Essay Example Understandably, when one visits a new place, they are more likely to make a direct connection with those they share culture or background with since many friendships sprout on common grounds. Take my case for instance; when I first arrived in America, I was nervous and apprehensive about just about everything. I kept constantly reminding myself that I was a foreigner, and somehow this must have influenced my perception of how my fellow students, especially the Americans, saw me. As a result, it was easier to make friends with Chinese people ââ¬â either the Chinese Americans or the Chinese people living in America. This was because around them, I did not feel very self-conscious, and I blended in much more easily; however, as I came to learn that with the benefit of research and personal experiences it can also be easy to make friends and interact with people from different cultures. Such interactions can be very rewarding and enlightening since one can learn a lot about different cultures; besides, with all our differences, every human being can find some similarly between themselves and anybody else as long as each of them shows interest in knowing the other. Interacting with new people in a new country by itself is a common experience; this is because each of you is in one way new to your present environment. After I moved into my house, I rarely spent much of my free time there, and every other weekend or when I had free time, I would go out visiting my Chinese friends or their families. In fact, in my first few days, I hardly spoke more than a few words to any of my flat mates, who were not Chinese, and there were a precious few of these. In a way, in my mind, I was still in China since I was actively avoiding any non-Chinese culture in what my American friend Chris later told me was a search for stability. However, one Sunday afternoon I was in my room browsing, and my computer crashed; I wondered what the

Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Essay Example for Free
Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Essay Throughout the novel the Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao Yunior tells the story of oscars family that is allegedly cursed by the Fuku. The dominican family that roots back to when Trujillo was in power has been tragical effected by the Fuku. The main character Oscar is an awkward Dominican that balms his failures on the curse of the Fuku. The curse started back in the Dominican republic when the oppressive dictator Trujillo convicted oscars grandfather Abelard who was a respected doctor for conspiracy. When oscars grandfather was put in jail he was tortured and beaten, this was the origin of the curse for the Waos. Like a gene the curse has been passed down the family to oscar. The author Junot Diaz uses the motif of the Fuku to illustrate how bani allows her awful past to dramatically affect her and children. Everyone that lived in the dominican was in some way negatively effected by Trujillo. Oscar Wao was a living example of the fuku and how not only Trujillo effected the dominican people of his time but even the people two generations later. For example (p.5)ââ¬Å"wether I believe in what many have described as the great american doom is not really the point. You live as long as I did in the heart of Fuku country, you hear these kinds of tales all the time everybody in san domingo has a Fuku story knocking around in their family.â⬠Yunior is expressing the fact that even if you are not a believer of the Fuku curse if you are dominican there is a good chance it has affected you or your family. When oscars mother was left an orphan she was put through unbelievably awful circumstances much like her fathers. This time in Banis life effect who she became and how she parented Oscar.(78)ââ¬Å"From 1951 on, ââ¬Å"hijaâ⬠and ââ¬Å"madreâ⬠running their famous bakery near the plaza central and keeping their fading, airless house in tip-top shape. (before 1951, our orphan girl had lived with another foster family, monsterous people if the rumors are to be believed, a dark period of her life neither she nor her madre ever referenced. Their very own pagina en blanco). This quotation refers to how oscars mother was effected by the Fuku. The reason she was an orphan was because Trujillo killed her parents. The events of her childhood were a direct result of Trujillo but Bani had the power to put the past in the past and parent Oscar the right way, because Bani did not do this the Fuku lives on. Many times in the book a Wao has been injured almost to the point of death. Once was when Oscar attempted suicide. Oscars Suicide attempt was not just because he lost the first girl he has ever loved it was also because of how Oscar had almost no self esteem. Even his own mother would belittle him from a young age. The suicide attempt went wrong and Oscar survived to live another day. (p.191) ââ¬Å"Except that this one of the garden dividers that they planted shrubs on and he hit the freshly tilled loam and not the concrete.â⬠Because he hit the fresh loam he survived with many harsh injures instead of plummeting to his death as planned. This was an incident in Oscar Waos life that was a result of his failures like his failure to love or be loved. This failure stems back to how his mother raised him with very tough love because of the her childhood. The novel clearly illustrated how the Fuku has effected all Dominican people even if they had immigrated off the island. To me this novel is not about dominican people and there history it is about how only one man effected millions of lives not only in one point it time but for generations to come. Junot Diaz shows the reader how we all have the power to stop horrible things like the Fuku from effecting the next generation but you must have the power to leave the past in the past.

Introduction to Business Management
In order for an organization to be successful they must hire and retain talented and productive employees to keep the business going strong. In order to ensure that the organization is hiring the correct employee the business must come up with an organized plan, or a pre-hilling assessment plan to properly screen all potential candidates for the Job. According to an online article from A&R Associates, Interviews alone cannot properly screen a potential hire, the Interview Is only about twenty five percent accurate in placing the proper individual (A&R Associates, 2013).If an organization was in the process of hiring for the open position of the President of a major retail store chain they would want to ensure they had a thorough pre-hire assessment plan prior to accepting applications or conducting any interviews. Obviously this position is at the top of the chain and very important to the organization's success. Therefore, it is very important that the company does its homework up f ront and increases the chances of hiring the right person the first time. The first step to ensuring the organization Is ready to hire the position of President Is to employ a Job modeling methodology which will be utilized to Identify personal competencies that are required to perform the specific Job that Is being hired (Fisher, 2011). Ensuring this Is accomplished from the start will allow the company to run a comparison between different job candidates, which in turn will ensure the correct applicant is ultimately selected for the position. This process also helps an organization reduce unnecessary turn over. After the Job description is written and approved the next step would be to research the potential candidates Job history by talking to previous supervisors as ell as the upper management of their previous Job or jobs.
